Pursuant to MCL 750.167 (b) (4) the judges of the circuit court are required to annually compile and maintain an up-to-date list of the names of the persons engaged in the business of becoming surety upon bonds for compensation in criminal cases.

In November of each year a reminder letter and an application is sent to all agencies on the current Bail Bond List. The annual bail bond list is published in January of each year.

For each agent the following documentation is required:

  • Bondsperson application
  • Michigan Driver’s License (copy)
  • ICHAT Criminal History Search (must be less than 30 days old)
  • Power of Attorney from surety underwriter with a “not to exceed” value
  • Resident Producer License (copy)

Incomplete applications are returned to the agency noting any missing documentation.
